another week in the sick bay

Welcome to My World

Whatever this virus has been that has been feeding off my body, it has certainly left me bereft of all energy.  It's difficult to know what to do for the best; knowing my tendency toward depression I've taken advantage of every time I've felt well to get out, mix with people and do things I enjoy.  this has resulted in at least three bad days after every good one.

Patience has been in very short supply and after losing it with the dog, who was jumping all over me, I found myself comforting RA (our Alison) who'd got quite upset.  When I asked her what the matter was she said "I feel I'm losing you."  I asked what she meant by this and she said "You're always grumpy these days and you hardly ever laugh like you used to; I want my real mum back who's funny and makes us laugh."

I was really affected by this because RA has a condition where she finds it hard to recognise other people's emotions.  I apologised and explained that it was because I've been feeling so unwell for the last few weeks.

I was really disappointed this morning because I really wanted to go to church to hear a couple of monologues I'd written acted out; also a good friend of mine has just had a baby and I'm dying to see the baby and have a cuddle.  I know we were an hour short  last night but I'd had about 10 hours sleep; even so the walk to  church in the pouring rain was more than I could face and I went back to bed.

On a lighter note my girls are both knitting their first cardigan.  As usual RA is well in front having knitted the back and both fronts.  I now have to teach her to increase as she starts the sleeves.  No use pleading illness because as I said earlier she can't empathise with other people's feelings and won't be put off.

RS (our Suzanne) goes at a much slower pace in everything and is only about a quarter of the way up the back but she's doing very well and isn't nearly as competitive as her sister.

Had a very productive writing group this week; full attendance and everyone had written something.  Added to this it was I's birthday and RA had baked him an enormous cake which we had to make a start on at the beginning of the meeting.  the downside to all this was that we didn't have time to browse the books which we all enjoy.

Hope everyone has a good week.

The first of many - I hope

Welcome to My World

Hello everyone,

Being new to this blogging business I'm hoping my readers will bear with me if I waffle on.  I'm the aspiring writer Janet S. Green but I'm also the mother of twenty something twin girls who have autistic spectrum disorder then in 2011 we added a madcap dog to our family.  While this is often a challenge it also gives me lots of material for tale telling.

There are lots of those situations which are hard to cope with at the time but usually have a funny side on reflection.  For years I entertained friends and colleagues with verbal accounts of these trials before one of them encouraged me to put pen to paper; or finger to keyboard in this case.

I've now been writing for about four years, in-between my day job and have had a little success.  Two of my short stories have been published in The People's Friend magazine along with a couple of articles and another article in The Lancashire Magazine.  I've had a few letters published in various publications some of them for a small fee and others for free.

In 2013 a friend and I started a small business which organizes art and craft groups with a view to selling items produced by our members.  This was primarily, on my part, to provide occupation and interest for my daughters.  Further information is available on the Arty Crafters Blog and website Artycrafters.moonfruit.com.

This has been short and sweet because my eyelids are drooping and my brain is following suit.

Speak to you all soon.
